Some projects are less about construction and more about presentation.
We were contacted by a respected art collector Roni Neumark to create and install a bespoke pole and draped protection system for one of the centrepieces of his collection — an expensive replica of the Mona Lisa.
The goal was not simply to protect the piece, but to shape the way it was experienced within the space.
The installation was designed to feel luxurious, theatrical, and deliberate — something closer to fashion or stage design than standard display protection.
Designing Protection as Part of the Artwork
Rather than hiding the protective structure, the idea was to make it part of the visual language surrounding the piece.
The 50 mm curtain pole, finished in old brass and fitted with ribbed globe finials and interlined curtains, was designed to create a sense of ceremony around the artwork. The installation acts almost like a barrier between the viewer and the object, heightening the sense of exclusivity and value.
Every detail had to feel intentional:
- premium finishes
- balanced draping
- discreet but secure mounting
- protection without losing visual impact
The challenge was finding the balance between security and elegance.
Installation Process
The installation involved careful positioning around the display area to ensure both stability and symmetry.
Because the work itself already carries heavy cultural symbolism, the surrounding structure had to enhance the atmosphere without overpowering it.
We treated the installation almost like dressing the artwork.
Lighting, spacing, fabric tension, and viewing angles all became part of the final composition.

Final Thoughts
This project reminded us that display design can completely transform how an artwork is perceived.
Sometimes the frame around the object becomes part of the statement itself.
In this case, the installation was about more than protection. It was about creating an experience around the artwork .
