OTRT Designs were invited to give advice and quote on this new potential curtains and blinds (Woldingham project). Our customers are busy professionals so we provided evening appointments to discuss the customer’s requirements and start the fabric selection process.
After an initial two home visits, a mix of curtains, roman blinds, motorised curtain rails, and poles was opted for. This large substantial house in the heart of Woldingham, Surrey has a mix of window archetypes, curves, straights and ones in high difficult to reach places.
As we discussed the project and went through the selection process the customer’s style began to show through as a modern take on a classic design. Sophisticated fabrics of linen, viscose, and cotton were chosen for there natural qualities. The designs botanical, flower and leaf design in a muted palette; a mix of print and embroidery fabrics.
As well as being busy professionals our customer had two young lads who were equally enthusiastic in the fabric selection process 🙂 I decided to show them a fabric pattern book one which is cool fresh but out there not for the faint-hearted. This collection just felt right for the personality of these lads. Mum and dad were very cool about it and gave them carte blanche to make this bold selection from the Kirkby design Jon x Burgerman collection. Its wild it’s fun it’s Rainbow scrawl.

The house and its windows provided challenges in the form of a large curve circular bay window which required templating and further windows on landings that could not be reached to operate. On further discussion, electric curtain and battery-operated rails were selected for ease of operation. The large curve was over 6m so a wired 240V heavy duty curtain motor was decided best to deal with the heavy load of the interlined and lined made to measure curtains for the Master Bedroom. Other curtains within the house a non-invasive battery version was chosen to prevent redecoration.
